Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is going to New York, USA to attend the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations. Leaders of various political parties are accompanying him on this visit. The Chief Advisor has six representatives from BNP, Jamaat and NCP as his entourage. Five of them are going to the United States on the same flight.
They are already staying at the VVIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the Chief Advisor’s press wing said. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka with his entourage on a commercial flight at 1:40 am today, Sunday (September 21).
The five leaders accompanying the chief advisor are BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs advisor to party acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayebe Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, National Citizens Party (NCP) member secretary Akhtar Hossain and the party’s senior joint member secretary Tasnim Zara.
Another representative of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Naqibur Rahman Tarique, is said to be joining them in New York.
Apart from this, six advisors are accompanying the chief advisor. Among them, housing advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, road transport advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, health advisor Nurjahan Begum and social welfare and women’s affairs advisor Sharmin S Murshid are going on the same flight.
Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain has already reached New York as a member of the forward team. On the other hand, National Security Advisor to the Chief Advisor Khalilur Rahman will reach New York next Wednesday (September 24).
Recently, Awami League workers and supporters tried to harass a government advisor in New York. For this, it is known that extra precautions have been taken during the Chief Advisor’s visit to the United States. It is known that the Consular General Office of Bangladesh has already written a letter to the New York Police, Mayor’s Office and Foreign Service seeking additional assistance to strengthen security. In the letter, they expressed concerns about the safety of Nobel laureate and Chief Advisor to the Bangladesh Government, Dr. Yunus.
